The same word answers each question.
Did you get it?
The answer is: NOTHING!
Rocks can’t think, so that makes sense, right?
But do you think, like so many others,
that you can earn a place in heaven by doing good?
The Bible calls this “works,” and says heaven is:
“Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
(Ephesians 2:9)
Since that’s true, how CAN you get to heaven?
That seems like a big problem, doesn’t it?
Thankfully, it isn’t, because God’s Word, the Bible, tells us how:
For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH;
and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.
(Ephesians 2:8)
But, why must you be saved? Saved from what?
Again, the Bible, God’s Word, tells us exactly:
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God
(Romans 3:23)
We’re all SINNERS, but the news gets worse!
For the wages of sin is death . . .
(Romans 6:23)
Surely, there must be a solution to this problem! Indeed, there is,
in the second half of that same verse, and this is
THE GOOD NEWS!
. . . but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
(Romans 6:23)
His Word also tells us:
But God commendeth his love toward us,
in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
(Romans 5:8)
There’s NOTHING you can do to EARN your way to heaven.
Absolutely NOTHING!
But, if you recognize you’re a sinner and all you’ve earned is eternal judgment, you can stop trusting in yourself, transfer that faith to the Lord Jesus Christ, and accept the gift of God!
. . . if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus,
and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead,
thou shalt be saved.
(Romans 10:9)
Then Jesus promises:
. . . him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
(John 6:37)
